Not A Love Song
"Not A Love Song" is a mixed media, video and sound installation. A score of a performative action around used materials from a construction site and words on a burlap confess a song that was never finished.
The stage was busy and the place was small
I looked at the people and I found myself torn
My soul was weary but my heart an overtone
I’m the noise of the crowd asking for more
I broke my guitar and I went home
The siren was sweet but the melody sour
The pain became pleasure
The installation references the intensity of a moshpit, where pain and belief collide, and pays tribute to the cult-like dimensions of rock ‘n’ roll culture.
“Not A Love Song” unfolds as a process of imitation and devotion, where music, while deeply fulfilling, remains elusive in granting full control. The work reveals a journey marked by nostalgia, inner conflicts, temptations, and the tension between past, present, and future.
«This project is the song that I need to listen to without falling for it. I need to tight myself, but challenge the myth, the Sirens of labor and pain.»
