2022 Installation Steel, paper napkins, spray paint, textile Municipal art gallery of Mykonos, Greece

The project is inspired by the Greek summer.
The title “GREEKEND” is borrowed from the touristic campaign of the Greek Ministry of Tourism accompanied by the triptych “impress, invest, rest”.

Six chairs make up an installation witnessing an event. Each of them is crafted by hand using traditional and modern techniques on steel like welding, forging and repousse. The seats of the chairs are weaved by hand with steel wire. The tavern chair, being an element of the Greek folk tradition, turns into a touristic symbol and freezes in time in steel. Each chair weights almost 40 kilos placed on top of thousands of napkins in a room. Entangled with the work, are already written personal postcards were given to the visitors, ready to be sent, sharing confusion in a scene of an aftermath.

The installation took place after the end of the pandemic on the island of Mykonos in Greece in 2022, one of the most touristic places in Europe during the summer. The work aims to question the irony of the liberal intentions on touristic ecosystems and the effects of a crisis during our late capitalistic era.
